What I love to do

8,000 miles away.
I was borned overseas in a country called Laos. This technically makes me Laotian, but I am not one. My born ethnicity is “Hmong”. If you try to look it up in an encyclopedia or a dictionary, you may find it hard to make sense of it because Hmong is really just a word categorizing small ethinic tribes in China through the southeast of Asia. I was borned a Hmong and will always have a Hmong soul in this life which I am proud and proud of my heritage, heart and courage.

Growing up as an ethusiest
I started web scripting in grade school in 1998 with the help of my brother who was 5 years older than I. Seems like yesterday that the first code I was trying to do was a basic Hyperlink with an Image. <a href="../site_folder/"><img src="image.jpg"></a>
I quickly grasp the syntax of HTML and spend a lot of my time after school researching on my own. I knew this was something amazing but I could have never  imagine I’d still be building websites. One of the things I remember hearing on tv about the Internet was on “The Today’s Show” in 1994 where the hosts tried hard to figure out what it is. It’s quite funny and entertaining to see what people back then thought about it.

I didn’t have Cable Internet so 56k Dial-Up was all that I used and I was only able to use it during the night when everyone was asleep or else I’d hear my parents yell, “SHUT OFF THAT COMPUTER!!“.
I still remember the sleepless nights spending my time on HTMLGears at Lycos.com. They were my #1 cheat sheet and I learned almost everything from there. I hosted my website at Angelfire, Homestead, 100megsfree and Netfirms. A few of these websites requires you to pay for hosting now.

Throughout the coming years I would meet many more Web ethusist in Middle School and we learned Dreamweaver and then taking my skills to a higher level as Web Developer Intern for a Government Agency, Governor’s Workforce Development Center (www.gwdc.org). I learned and experience so many things during my time there.

I attend The University of Minnesota in early 2000′s as an undergrad where I would work as a Web Developing Specialist at the Language Center. I took my PHP skills to a whole new level that I’ve never could have imagine because I had a wonderful supervisor who was willing to push me to sharpen my skills.

My Life
I consider myself a well experienced web developer specializing in HTML, PHP, MySql, CSS, JQuery and Designing. I love to custom build websites and web application because it’s just such a great feeling to create.

Where I am going
I learn so much every time I build a website.
I do not want to be a school teacher, but I would love to teach a web developing class one day. It’s what I do and love.
